Missouri adds construction industry to Phase 2 of statewide vaccination plan; Phase 2 set to open March 29

The Builders’ Association | Kansas City Chapter, Associated General Contractors recently assembled a statewide construction association coalition to join in asking Missouri Governor Mike Parson to add the construction industry to the phased vaccination plan (see letter here).

Over the last few months, Missouri has rolled out the vaccine, but construction was not mentioned anywhere in the phased plan, supporting lists of industries or on the website. Leaders around construction questioned how an industry determined essential at all levels of government from the beginning of the pandemic did not even register a mention on any of the recovery and vaccine plans in Missouri.

Now, due to the efforts of the coalition, Missouri state officials have added construction to Phase 2 of the vaccination plan. On Friday, March 12, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Director Randall Williams issued a new COVID-19 vaccination order with this information. Phase 2 appears on Page 3 of the document.

Parson announced Phase 2 will open on March 29, and Phase 3: All Missouri adults will open April 9.

The health order now has been distributed to county, city and other local officials. The www.covidvaccine.mo.gov website will be updated in the near future to reflect the new DHSS order.
